Everyday makeup /TRR/ vintage go to’s
Products to look alive, the real real shopping tips & vintage shops.
Welcome to my newsletter B.S Beauty and Shopping (or as it’s in my brain, Natalie’s bullshit lol). Here hopefully you’ll find some new beauty products, shops, books, or places that I’m into. Maybe an occasional interview from some fun people, trend discussions? Basically fun babbling.
Each two(ish) weeks I’ll dive into a certain topic that’s beauty and or shopping related. Don’t be surprised if there’s some random other stuff involved. I want this to feel like you’re sharing tips amongst your girlfriends.
If you or anyone you might know enjoys this sort of stuff please consider sharing <3
For my first newsletter I thought we’d start off simple. None of this is groundbreaking info but I think it’ll get us familiarized with one another :)
I genuinely just love stuff. Beauty stuff (obvi), home goods, clothes, shoes, tchotchkes you name it. I want it, own it, owned it or have given it away to some capacity.
Here are my beauty go to’s that are tried & true for everyday use (full disclosure I usually do my makeup 5 minutes before my 1st client or in an Uber) Right now less is more and anything I can rub on with my fingers is my best friend:
Tizo tinted sunscreen is my first step. A recent purchase my esthi Saren at Cali Strauhs has turned me onto. I personally don’t like the feeling of foundation but this gives an overall even skin tone & glow. Also you better be wearing sunscreen everyday.
Yves Saint Laurent Touché Elcat Brightening Concealer has been my bff for years. Easy to pat under the eyes, a blemish here & there. Good finish not too much coverage I will admit but it does make you look alive. I work long days and it doesn’t crease or do anything weird. Also a sucker for its great packaging. P.S. they do have a heavier coverage one but I’ve never tried.
Yves Saint Laurent Nu Lip & Cheek Balmy Tint. I use the shade nu chills- soft plum. Just learned it has hyaluronic acid in it as I was looking up what it’s called. Woo! I rub it on my cheeks a little on my lips sometimes on my eyelids. Go crazy! This stuff is pigmented but not overpowering and really easy to rub on in a pinch. I would say it’s the grown up version of glossier cloud paint. A little more gel like so I think it stays longer. I found this because Merit was out of their cream blush which is also a great on the go. Also very similar price point (merit has more shades) but the YSL finish is more balmy.
Charlotte Tilburry Brow Fix Eyebrow Gel. Straight to the point. Doesn’t get flakey unless! You’re at the end of the dried out tube. I love a fluffy brow. Side note the got2b brow gel is also great but VERY strong hold. If you rub your brows it might look like they have dandruff. So pick your poison. That one is my favorite for controlling baby hairs or fly always on your hair because of the big spoolie.
Dior Addict Lip Glow in any shade but I ALWAYS have an 01 on me. Take my money dior. Balmy but kinda moisturizing (not very I won’t lie to you) and the cutest pink. If they ever stop making this I might die.
Urban Decay Perversion Volumizing Mascara. Again take my money. I always try new mascaras (currently trying the Kylie one & no bueno VERY flakey) anyways this is the one I always come back to. Lasts forever minimal smearing. Comes off mostly with warm water when removing. Any mascara that doesn’t scares me.
Grande Lash seruming again because why not? At least when I remember. I’ve used this in the past and had incredible results. (With patience). I will say I’ve heard people say it burns them or creates a dark line above lash line. So I’d say get from Sephora & test it, if not just return. I hope you know but if you don’t! You can literally return anything and everything to Sephora even if used. I hear borboleta lash serum is a great sensitive alternative.
Yves Durif Vented Brush. I know not cheap but it’s the only brush I own for myself other than the mini Mason Pearson. We’ll get into that one another day. The Yves brush is what got me into brushing my hair. Perfect size, it’s chic, not too rough on the hair. Good for wet or dry. I now brush my hair every night before going to bed and add some oil to my ends. (For context I used to only brush if there was a dreadlock forming yikes I know)
Hair Oil!!! I really love oils right now. 14th night has been my go to. It’s thin enough that it doesn’t weigh me down and keeps my ends hydrated. No matter how healthy your hair is, your ends will always need a little more love especially if you have long hair. For something a little heavier the Roz styling oil is nice and smells divine.
Roz Foundation Shampoo & Conditioner has been my jam lately. Clean, beautiful sustainable packaging. Amazing air dry. Impressive feel of cleanliness considered it being clean. Also my boyfriend won’t stop smelling my hair so thats a plus.
Shopping!!!
