If Miami or anywhere warm isn’t in your cards and you are feeling crusty, dusty, musty- you are not alone my friend. To help with said crusty, dusty, musty feelings:
Don’t be lazy with your skincare. Do the long routine as much as possible. Layer on all the serums.
Microcurrent your face. I like to zap my face with the pure lift by face gym every night or at least when I remember. Micro current is cumulative so the more you do it the more it works. Also using this jelly instead of something very expensive has been a life changer.
Face masks: all the types. I got a bunch of dr. Jart sheet masks in Korea that I’m still working through but this CO2 fancyyyyyy mask really is something else. Leaves you so plump and hydrated. Helps with moisture retention, fine lines & texture. The gel consistency makes it super soothing. I would def splurge and save this for when you’re super dry or before an event. Or like tonight- needing a little pick me up. :) they are def pricey so i would look for any promos. (Cali will randomly do some sales on her site)
Keep eye patches in the fridge (keep all the depuffing stuff in the fridge) for morning time puffiness.
Tanning drops in your moisturizer.
Tanning drops in body lotion if you’re lazy like I and scared of spray tans. I will get one this winter!!!
Spray tans. I still haven’t discovered who or where are the secret best ppl other than sugared & bronzed. Someone recently told me about a mobile service but can’t remember exactly. I’ve heard good things about tans by Natalie. If you know any good spray tanners- spill the beans.
Brow tints: I recommend going to someone for this if you can. At home kits can be tricky but if you REALLY trust yourself go for it. But I say go to a professional. I don’t wanna be responsible for your black eyebrows.
Go CRAZY with your everything showers.
Condition your hair with a mask every time (if you have dry hair) or every other time.
My go to hair mask is still the color wow money mask. (Excuse the ugly packaging) I like the gel consistency(doesn’t weigh you down). Remember pony tail down.
For bumpy skin I love the first aid beauty stuff. (Make sure to moisturize after)
Body care: just tried this lili’s instant peel. I hate that i love you but I felt like I had new skin right after.
My go to baby skin situation is: dry brush before taking a bath. Soak as long as possible in mustard seed powder bath then scrub with these Korean exfoliating cloths. Then moisturize the crap out of your body.
When in doubt la roche posay. I keep seeing this Hanni in shower moisturizer everywhere. For scented lotions I love nonfiction. (Happier grocer has some of their scents)
Lip balm- this pack of 2 is god sent.
Get a mani pedi. At least a pedicure. I know many people take pedicure breaks in the winter. Respect if you do. Any time I’ve done that I feel like a sack of potatoes.
Hand cream- got the sidia serum in our holiday party goody bag. Very nice without feeling greasy. Been doing this at night.
L’occatine- OG & always gets the job done.
I keep small byredo hand creams in my purse at all times. Gypsy water, Mojave ghost, rose, suede, bal d’afrique. (Unfortunately I am a byredo slut) i also <3 their hair perfume.
If you need some hair love but don’t know what: color wise a gloss never hurt anyone and leaves your hair shiny. If it’s been a while since your last cut get a nice little trim. Especially if you have long hair summer goals.
Lash & brow serums every night. Typology. Make. Ogagi now in the rotation.
Night time tea. Sleepy time. Immune support. Tummy support. Just feels nice.
Humidifier- canopy. Straight to the point.
If you wanna invest I love my Dyson fan/humidifier.
I know I won’t shut up about eyeliner these days but it really gives you that extra je ne sais quoi. Really into make beauty gel liner. For liquid. Really into warm dark browns these days.
Also don’t forget a good lip combo always brings you to life.
Beating winter scaries aka depression:
Exercise… who knewww. endorphins.. blah blah. But seriously hit those workout classes. I never wanna go but feel so good after. Or just walk/run on tread. Get the heart pumping. Woooo
Make sure you’re drinking enough water. Helps with obviously everything but especially dryness.
Bundle yourself up and go for a walk on a sunny day that isn’t 20 degrees. The sun really works wonders.
Sad light therapy. I still haven’t pulled the trigger on one but seems like they all pretty much do the same thing.
Therapy.. I won’t preach but it does work… alma is a great place to start your search for a new therapist.
Dinners at home with friends.
Being cozy at home (love a movie night)
Plan random fun things with your friends. For example- bunch of the girls and I went to monster jam on Sunday. It might’ve been one of the best days of my life but that’s a story for another time.
Call your parents/grandparents (if that brings comfort)
Cook nourishing foods for yourself like soups & stews. Good for you & therapeutic.
Check on your friends. be nice to ppl. hold the door for one another. smile at strangers. the world’s really fucking weird rn & small acts of kindness really go a long way.
Remember this is our body’s time to naturally hibernate. Be kind to yourself. Live laugh love angels.
I guess the moral of this is to take extra care of yourself. But mostly to use tanning drops and go outside lol.
Thanks for reading <3
